Day 1

What Is Focus?

Coaching Lesson

Focus means giving ALL your attention to THIS shot — not the last one, not the next one. Just this one. The best golfers in the world use a technique called "This Shot Only." Before every shot, they say to themselves: "This is the only shot that matters right now." When your mind wanders to your last bad shot or worries about the next hole, gently bring it back. THIS shot. THIS moment. That's where champions live.

After each shot, let it go — reset for the next one

Day 2

Your Focus Enemies

Coaching Lesson

Your focus has enemies, and they all live inside your head! Enemy #1: THE PAST — thinking about a bad shot you already hit. You can't change it! Enemy #2: THE FUTURE — worrying about upcoming holes or your final score. You can't control it yet! Enemy #3: OTHER PEOPLE — worrying about what your playing partners think. Your only job is YOUR game. The secret? When you catch a focus enemy sneaking in, just notice it and say: "Not now. This shot only." Don't fight the thought — just redirect.

Day 3

Box Breathing Reset

Coaching Lesson

When your focus breaks or you feel nervous, you need a RESET button. Box Breathing is your secret weapon. Here's how: Breathe IN for 4 seconds. HOLD for 4 seconds. Breathe OUT for 4 seconds. HOLD for 4 seconds. That's one box. Do 2-3 boxes and you'll feel calm, focused, and ready. Navy SEALs use this exact technique before missions. Now YOU can use it before big shots. Practice this at home until it becomes automatic — then use it on the course whenever you need to reset.

The Pre-Shot Routine

Every great golfer has a Pre-Shot Routine — the same steps before EVERY shot. Your routine is your anchor. When things get stressful, your routine keeps you steady. Here's your 4-step routine: Step 1: STAND behind the ball and pick your target. Step 2: BREATHE — one deep breath to get focused. Step 3: SET UP to the ball with confidence. Step 4: TRUST — swing without thinking. The key? Do the EXACT same routine every single time. Same order, same rhythm, same commitment. Your routine is your superpower.

Day 5

Handling Bad Shots

Coaching Lesson

Here's a secret: EVERY golfer hits bad shots. Even the pros on TV! The difference? Champions have a plan for bad shots. It's called the 10-Second Rule: You have 10 seconds to be frustrated. Feel it. Then it's OVER. After 10 seconds, take a breath and move on. Here's the Champion Pattern: Bad shot → Feel it (10 seconds max) → Deep breath → "What's my NEXT shot?" → Pre-shot routine → Great next shot. The goal isn't to never hit bad shots. The goal is to never let a bad shot turn into TWO bad shots.

Day 6

Playing for Process

Coaching Lesson

Most kids (and adults!) only care about their SCORE. But champions focus on their PROCESS. What's process? It's doing the RIGHT THINGS regardless of the score. Today, you're going to score yourself differently. Give yourself a point for each of these: Did I do my pre-shot routine? Did I stay focused on this shot only? Did I handle bad shots with the 10-Second Rule? Did I take deep breaths when I needed to? You can shoot a high score and still WIN at process. And here's the magic: when you win at process, the scores take care of themselves.
